Letter W Storytime
Scott Bahlmann
Opening: Shake My Sillies Out – Raffi
Book: Waking Dragons – Jane Yolen
(The flow of this was a bit disjointed, but the kids still really liked it. Nice illustrations.)
Activity: How’s the Weather
(We use this is our bookbabies rotation, so most of the partents were already familier with it. It went over quite well!)
Book: We Need Water – Charles Ghigna
(This was maybe my favorite for the program. Very cute pictures, a nice message, and quite readable.)
Activity: Wiggle Worm
(from the King County Library system)
First use wiggly fingers
Did you ever see a wiggle worm
A wiggle worm, a wiggle worm.
Did you ever see a wiggle worm
Go this way and that?
Go this way and that way
And this way and that way.
Did you ever see a wiggle worm
Go this way and that?
Next repeat using arms.
Finally, use whole body.
(This was a bit just not there. Not all the kids were so eager to play along.)
Book: Wiggle Waggle – Jonathan London
(This was a very fun book, though we clipped a couple of the pages that we weren't sure how to act out.)
Activity: Wheels on the Bus
The wheels on the bus go
round and round, round and round,
round and round.
The wheels on the bus go
round and round, all through the town.
The doors...
The driver...
The wipers...
The horn...
The muffler...
The people...
The babies...
The mommies and the daddies…
(Kids love this song, a sure hit!)
Book: Wolf’s Coming – Joe Kulka
(Great pictures, and just enough suspense made this a fantastic addition, and finale for the program.)
Activity: Streamers (worms)
(Then we wiggled our 'worms' to music as we danced!)
