Letter XYZ Storytime
Scott Bahlmann
The kids were great at identifying the words, even yucky. Zapatos took some explanation, and then we reinforced it with two part of the program.
This is our system-wide opener. Starting with the same song lets the kids know we’re ready to start, and builds their confidence.
Simple, with great opportunities to talk about how the characters feel. Love it!
I pause the video and we practice the signs of the food we see,
then include ‘yucky’ when the song is playing.
They really like this activity!
There are maybe a few too many characters, but it’s worked well each time I’ve used it in a program. The anticipation and reveal really works!
Great way to get parents involved, as long as you’ve got enough space for the kids to run around them.
Pete’s always a hit, and we sung the verse in Spanish for the Zapatos connection.
We did the sign language for each item of clothing,
as well as the ‘date prisa’ ‘hurry up’ phrase.
The group was a little too big and young to catch the progression in this book, Goodnight Gorilla would have worked better, I’m sure.
